Cancer Informatics and Precision Medicine
Cancer informatics and precision medicine leverage genomic, molecular, imaging and clinical data to support more precise diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment selection across the cancer care continuum. By integrating diverse data sources, from tumor sequencing and pathology to longitudinal clinical outcomes, these approaches enable clinicians to tailor therapies to the biological characteristics of each patient’s disease.
Clinical Informatics and Decision Support
Clinical informatics and artificial intelligence are transforming health care by using clinical data from electronic health records and clinical monitoring systems to support accurate, safe and ethical decision-making in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.
Data Services and Informatics Tools
The department plays a key role in coordinating healthcare data, infrastructure, and services for the health sciences. Jonathan C. Silverstein, MD, MS, chief research informatics officer (CRIO); Eugene M. Sadhu, MD, associate CRIO; and Shyam Visweswaran, MD, PhD, director of the Biomedical Informatics Core of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, work closely together to develop research data services and informatics tools to support biomedical data science and artificial intelligence research.
Translational Bioinformatics and Omics Research
Translational bioinformatics and omics research uncovers molecular mechanisms of disease from high-dimensional genomic and proteomic data. This work spans protein-protein interaction prediction, gene regulatory program inference, spatial biology, single-cell RNA-seq analysis and network-based drug repurposing.
