Biography
Dr. Gary Fischer is a Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh. He serves as Associate Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, Program Director of the UPMC Clinical Informatics Fellowship, and Medical Director for eRecord Ambulatory Decision Support and Analytics. His research and clinical work focus on applying health information technology and clinical decision support to improve quality of care in general internal medicine, with particular emphasis on chronic disease management and preventive care.
Research Interests
Dr. Fischer’s research focuses on the design and evaluation of clinical decision support systems in primary care, with emphasis on chronic disease management and preventive health. He is interested in how health IT can reduce disparities and improve population health outcomes.
