The mission of the Department of Biomedical Informatics is: To fundamentally advance biomedical informatics research through radical innovation and rigorous experimentation, with a sustained emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) research.
History
Our roots as a pioneering center for medical artificial intelligence (AI) reach back to the early 1970s, when Jack D. Myers, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, began collaborating with AI researcher Harry E. Pople, Jr., PhD.
