Biography

Dr. Yanshan Wang is Vice Chair of Research and Assistant Professor of Health Information Management at the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. His research focuses on natural language processing and machine learning applied to clinical and biomedical text, with emphasis on extracting structured knowledge from electronic health records to support clinical research and decision-making.

Research Interests

Dr. Wang’s research develops NLP and machine learning methods for clinical and biomedical text, with applications to EHR phenotyping, clinical knowledge graph construction, and automated information extraction. He is particularly interested in low-resource and cross-domain NLP settings relevant to healthcare.
