A major strength of University of Pittsburgh Biomedical Informatics Training Program is the breadth and depth of research ongoing among the core faculty. All core faculty members stand available as potential research supervisors for trainees. Each predoctoral and postdoctoral trainee—including the self-funded—is placed in a supervised research environment at the beginning of training. This initial placement with a member of the core or affiliated faculty is based on the trainee’s interests as stated in their program application. Once a trainee’s progress in research is underway, a requested change of biomedical informatics advisor can be considered. See Faculty for information on our current core faculty, as well as links to their Web pages.
