Web & Marketing Group
The Web & Marketing Group (WeMa) helps to represent UPCI, UPMC Cancer Centers and the University of Pittsburgh Department of Biomedical Informatics online and in print, and to aid those groups in their missions using technology and marketing savvy otherwise unavailable. The group’s primary responsibilities include creating, maintaining and improving the web presence of the institutions it serves, but the diversity of its members and its collective skill-set means that its role extends to meet needs that arise. The group has a mix of skills which include graphic design, form and database development, content creation for audiences ranging from the general public to researchers and academics, and technology consulting.
The group serves as a resource for researchers and patient care providers, helping the communications with the outside world be as fruitful and productive as possible.
The group provides standard service for the groups represented within the UPCI, UPMC Cancer Centers and DBMI domains. We work with departments, centers, cores and facilities to increase their visibility to the audiences they serve and collaborate with, as well as documenting the efforts and interests of the institutions’ physicians and researchers. Additionally, the group has partnered with departments and institutionally-affiliated consortia to provide services for efforts which are not able to be supported internally.

Our Skills
The WeMa group members have experience in the academic/research environment, but have also worked extensively in the private sector. This mix of experiences gives the group the perspective necessary to develop effective marketing, design, and interactive communications tuned for the intended audience, while considering the unique needs and challenges of a research / patient care institution.
