“Making Radiology More Meaningful: Some Roles for Informatics”
Brian Chapman, PhD
Assistant Professor, Biomedical Informatics
Abstract: In vivo imaging technologies have transformed the practice of medicine. However, the full potential of in vivo imaging has not been realized, because radiology remains primarily a qualitative rather than a quantitative discipline. In this presentation I will use three of my research projects to illustrate how informatics can be used to make radiology more quantitative. Specifically, I will discuss 1) improving correlation between Radiology and Pathology, 2) Quantifying MR properties of tissues, and 3) creating vascular models for automated and quantitative analysis.
