Research Interests
Since 1994, Dr. Spallek's research interests have focus on the development of Web-based educational resources for dental professionals. Dr. Spallek developed and directs a predoctoral course on computer applications in dentistry. As core faculty member, he lectures in the NIDCR/NLM-funded postgraduate training program in DI. He published the first textbook on dental Internet applications in Germany (1997) and in the United States (1998). He is co-founder and a principal of S3 Web Technologies, LLC, an Internet services and consulting company for the dental and medical markets.
Dr. Spallek is member of the Working Group Steering Committee of the American Medical Informatics Association. He recently received a NLM grant (G08) to build an Dental Informatics Online Community.
